Such a great day for an HISD Summer Kick-Off! Thanks to everyone who celebrated with us today at Fair Park!! #LiveLikeYouROAR!

HISD Families,
Like you, we are shocked and deeply saddened by the news of the shooting at Robb Elementary School in Uvalde, Texas on Tuesday. We share in the heartbreak we are all feeling for the families who have lost a loved one due to this senseless act of violence.
School should and must be a place where students feel completely safe and secure. As an added precaution, we are working with our local law enforcement officials to have an increased police presence in and around our buildings for the rest of the week.
We know that children and teens will process this news in different ways. Counselors are available at each of our school buildings to assist students who may need some extra support. We strongly encourage any students to stop by the counseling office at any time.
Please join us in keeping the students, staff, and families of the Uvalde Consolidated Independent School District in our thoughts and prayers at this time.
Respectfully,
Dr. Thurston B. Lamb, Jr.
Superintendent
Henderson ISD

Statement concerning toy gun found on HMS campus
(May 23, 2022) Administrators at Henderson Middle School discovered a toy gun on campus this morning. After the initial investigation, it was determined the toy had been brought on campus by a student and then shown to other students. Once the toy was discovered, employees followed strict protocols to ensure the safety of students and staff. It was immediately obvious the item was a toy and no one was in danger at any time. There was also no disruption to class or campus activities. A full investigation into the case is ongoing and the student code of conduct, along with all appropriate disciplinary actions will be enforced. HISD remains committed to doing all we can to maintain a safe learning environment.

Around 11 a.m. this morning during Middle School Field day at the stadium, an HISD teacher had a medical emergency. Our trained nurses responded immediately and cared for the teacher until EMS arrived. All students were asked to exit the stadium and to return to their regular classes. The teacher is improving and we wish the teacher a speedy recovery. -- HISD Communications
